0647 hrs. I am in a hotel room in Belfast. The show here was last night. The jet lag I am dealing with has me sleeping in two shifts. I get up early and then get tired again in the afternoon. I am working though it as best I can.

I am sure you are well aware that the West Memphis Three, Damien, Jessie and Jason were released from prison a couple of days ago. I was told this was going to happen a couple of weeks ago and had to sit on the news. I was in disbelief when I heard about it the first time and the same thing happened when they were indeed released a few days ago.

I was in Scotland when the office e-mail address started getting a lot of traffic that had the phrase “WM3” in it. I knew the word had got out.

I am still a little numb about the whole thing. I thought it would happen some day but when it did, it was not like I thought it was going to be. What did I think it was going to be, I am not exactly sure. I guess I was hoping for a trial and complete vindication. I believe they are innocent and that the killer or killers are still out there.

There’s a lot on the internet you can check out about them. I think the press conference they did a few days ago, brief as it is, is worth checking out, if nothing more than to just see the guys all sitting there.

The world is an eventful place at the moment. Libya is turning a page, things are changing at a rapid pace all over but this is the item that has been on my mind for the last few days.

I know that there are many people who donated money and time to help the WM3. I was talking to a guy outside the show last night, he and his band as well as some others had done a benefit show all the way out here. I think with this case, there was a lot of that. They have supporters all over the world. It would be great if there could be some kind of concert or something now that they’re out to thank everyone, some kind of large check-in. This was such a huge effort of people all over helping in all kinds of ways. It’s good to see that all the work that people put in was not on vain.

As if there’s any point to writing about anything else.

I have been in Scotland and Northern Ireland for about a week now. The shows in Edinburgh were great and last night here was a good time as well. I don’t know if you have ever had the chance to get to these places but I would recommend it. People here are amazing. I have shows in Cork and Galway over the next couple of days and am really looking forward to them.

I played in Scotland for the first time in 1984. It wasn’t until years later that I finally got to Ireland and Northern Ireland. 1992 was it, I am pretty sure.

I am glad to be doing shows, even though it is only a short run. When I am on tour, onstage every night, I feel like I am in the right place, doing the right thing. The only thing that comes close is traveling the world to get information for the shows. Basically, it’s all about the show for me.

Pre-order information for Occupants, my new book, is available here: http://static.musictoday.com/store/bands/1821/images/occupants.html

I have to get packed. I will be heading out soon.

Thanks for reading this.
